Five Halloweens ago, the release of The Prize Fighter Inferno’s My Brother’s Blood Machine marked our first encounter with Claudio’s enigmatic side project. From acoustic epics like “Wayne Andrews, the Old Bee-Keeper” to longstanding PFI anthem “Who Watches the Watchmen”, My Brother’s Blood Machine quickly became a fan favorite. MBBM also offered us an alternate view at Claudio’s creative vision and musical flexibility, as well as a hint at the universe after Heaven’s Fence. After five years, this album is still in regular rotation - and new material has been confirmed!
It is disheartening to see members of the Coheed fan community act selfish and malicious towards establishments that have been nothing but beneficial for the things they claim to value. There is currently a negative response within some circles for approaching an individual about removing Cobalt content re-uploaded without permission. The personal backlash doesn't bother me, but the general attitude does - undermining the work of those who do nothing but help you is counterproductive and makes us wary of being too generous in the future. We provide details and history, help you plan your trips, direct you to show tickets, answer your questions, set up your meet&greets, share new information... in return, please show a measure of respect for how hard we work to keep this community thriving.
Next time you shut yourself away with the intention to self-harm, take a minute to think. Who are you? What are you made of? Something cannot come from nothing; it’s against the laws of the universe. You are a strange and terrific conglomeration of energy, effort, and substance. You are the end-result-in-progress of trillions of tiny events. So before you take that razor to your flesh, before you scrape at your skin or caress that hot metal: is this how you will choose to honor all that makes you worthy of life? Consider the love of your best friend, or the passion of your favorite band, or the concern of your significant other - will you honor these truths with hidden wounds? Will you honor such a collective effort by chipping away at your health, trust, and sanity? Each temporary relief you take is our permanent hurt - yet still we love you and always will. Before you dismiss me, believe me when I say I have walked the same paths. Therefore I know better than to ask that you stop… only to think: Is this how you will honor yourself?
Hey Jess, just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thanks! I'm a big Coheed fan since early 2005. I'm on Co & Ca and in the COTF listing . Ive been to every show within 1000 miles (except for the original neverender :( )! You're the superfan I can't be (due to a 9-5 and a family). Thanks for letting me share vicariously through you, and I love your photography. Keep it up .... please :) --hiro
A 1000-mile radius is serious business, kudos on your dedication! I don’t believe in the term “superfan” though. Even if such a thing exists (I don’t think it does in the Coheed realm), I wouldn’t apply it to me. I do things that other people wish they could do because I CAN do them, not because I love Coheed more than anyone else. I have every intention of doing this as long as I can - this heart is everlasting, you know? ;)
(And if it makes you feel any better, I didn’t make it to original Neverender either. It still kills me.)
I just wanted to say that I really look up to you, Jess. And I'd be more than willing to discuss that issue, it's killing me to feel like this. I was really hesitant about posting that and the type of feedback I'd get, so your responses made me feel better. Despite differing opinions, I'm really glad we can be civil and respectful about it. I wish a lot more Coheed fans had your maturity. Anyway, you can count on me hitting you up whenever I have time. (Eff college admissions) Goodnight, lady.<3
I think we have all grown up a lot. Five years ago I might have taken up in battle with you… when it’s not persuasion you need, but another perspective might help you out. I’ve been there, so we’ll talk.
It's good to see that you're a lot more active on Tumblr as of late, woman. I would love to get the chance to talk to you and the other hoebags on Skype one of these days. I also wanted to revisit Erika & I's idea of a Children of the Fence gathering!
Yes! We need to hold a big hoe-down, stat. Definitely sometime this weekend? <3
i'd like to mention to you that i am extremely envious of those who've met you and have gotten the chance to experience a coheed show with you. although there are very many kilgannons who share the same passion you do for coheed, your dedication is what separates you from the rest and i admire that very much. XO
I’m not separated from the rest… at least I hope not. I want to stand in the same lines, I want to fight for air in the same pits, I want to listen to the same album on release day, I want to man my own Jackhammer with hundreds of others. So I happen to take on a few extra obligations - but like I said to my last ask, we’re all in this together.
And, on the next tour I’ll be traveling the southwest area of the country. You’ll see me. :) <3
Oh man, I'm so glad I followed you... I read all your blog, and let me tell you, you make me proud. You're the kind of fan every band should want. You give me hope, there's so many idiotic fans out there, and this is true for every band I like. But you? You're a trooper. You rock. You live the dream. You deserve every amazing experience you lived. Just, wow...
First off, I wasn’t sure how to respond to this, as a number of people seem to think I maintain my accounts to show how awesome I am. Although those people matter less than gum on a sidewalk… words as kind as yours make me blush awkwardly. That being said: thank you. Thank you for the immense kindness (if not for the immense compliments, as I can’t claim them in good conscience, but your intent is clear). I hope that the contributions of myself and others have affected you positively, and know that your contributions make me proud too. We’re all in this together, you know? <3
Hello! First, I noticed you really, really, REALLY, like Coheed and Cambria, and that's never a bad thing. In fact, it's awesome. Second, your tumblr made smile/laugh/almost cry/cry/wonder/think/feel/and, well, I think you get the idea hehe. And third, you seem to be a nice person, and you're really interesting, so I'm following you right now :B And fourth... well, that's pretty much it =D Take care, be seeing you :P
I’m glad some of the things I’ve shared have affected you positively. :) Thank you for the kind feedback (I’m following you too!).
Yeah it’s in there somewhere. In fact it may be in that black & white photo. However, I did not attend the original Neverender and it kills me every day, despite the situation back then being entirely out of my control. (Thus, the incessant traveling - I’m trying to make up for it.)
