I assume you've already secured your copy of The Afterman? What do you think of the new single and music video? I've had the song on repeat all day, I love it. It screams Coheed but still has a unique sound unlike the other albums.
Hell yes, order #245! :) I’m beyond excited. It’s a brand new era.
Not so much a question, but a comment, because hopefully you see these more often. I'm also not donating to the page for Mic, because he has said he could not accept that. I also agree that the bass should not be what the subject is here. I had contacted him about setting up something similar with the bass not even mentioned. I'd give in a heartbeat, though. Just wanted you to know not everybody out there is just in "Coheed" mode over this. Mic seems like a good guy that could use some help
I bought one of the Afterman Deluxe Editions and being that there are no shows in my state wanted to take my VIP pass to the closest listed show. Come to find out I can't go :( do you think dates will be announced in the states that have been missed on the recent tours either after Coheed returns from their Ascension headlining shows in the UK or maybe when Descension comes out? (sorry for that long run on sentence)
Very good chance. Short answer to a long question ;)
Hi jess! Do you have any idea if Co&Ca will have a world tour?
I don’t know about like an actual world tour where it’s all unified under one run, not sure if they have ever really done that. But with a new album cycle, they do commonly end up going all over the world. Japan, the Philippines, western Europe, and South America have all been visited during album tours. Think they even did South Africa once (or that’s possibly my imagination?). We’ll see I guess.
Hey have you donated to the fundraiser to save Mic's bass?
I’ve kept my mouth way shut about this so far, but dude, I have a couple things to say here.
(Short story of this: Mic wants to sell his Coheed bass to help pay for cancer treatment costs. Some Coheed fans created a fundraiser so that he could keep the bass.)
No, I have not contributed. Because I believe a fundraiser should be no strings attached out of the goodness of people’s hearts. Say you do come up with a few thousand dollars and give it to Mic for his cancer treatment. What if he sells the bass anyways? In no way is he actually obligated to keep the thing even you send him money. Are you guys gonna want your money back if he sells the bass for more extra cash? It’s an ultimatum in disguise. What a shitty and awkward obligation to put on a guy, no kidding.
And be honest, the only reason most of you care about him selling this bass is because it’s his “Coheed bass”. Nothing he’s said has indicated that he is loath to sell it. You guys are sentimental about it because it’s Coheed related. He could use the money, so what exactly makes you think he really wants to keep it? Might as well have named it the “Force Mic to Forever Feel Like Coheed’s Ex-Bassist” Fund. I mean, Jesus Christ. Let the guy move on with his life. Last I heard, he can’t even play it because of injury, so that quality musical instrument is nothing but a floor decoration possibly full of weird feelings.
If you had named it the “Help Mic Kick Cancer’s Butt” Fund, sent all the money to treatment and left the bass out of the picture - hell yeah I’d donate to that! Everyone should donate to that! Whatever consequences Mic may have earned, cancer is not one of them. No one deserves cancer and he should receive the best treatment he can get. But “Save Mic’s Bass”? Come on. I’d hate to think that sentimentality over old Coheed stuff has taken a priority over paying for cancer treatment.
Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and is not meant to reflect the views of the band, management, fansite, or general community.
Edit: no offense meant to any who have contributed. I think it’s wonderful you want to help him, but I just have some ethical issues with the way it stands right now.
Am I a bad person because I don't like rap? I don't discriminate any kind of music, I give it all a fair chance but everything Josh did while not with the heed did absolutely nothing for me.
Not at all. Everyone has their favorite music, and everyone has music that just doesn’t hit them the right way. If you don’t like rap, that’s fine, no one’s going to judge you for it.
I don’t like a lot of rap either. However, the reason I enjoy Weerd Science is because I know a lot of Josh’s backstory. I know some of where his music comes from and I know that he has a passion for music that he couldn’t turn off if he tried. That’s what makes WS click for me - that, and he’s one motherfcker with serious rhythm.
Also, don’t feel guilty for not liking something related to Coheed. Suddenly loving everything vaguely connected to the Coheed universe ONLY BECAUSE it is connected to the Coheed universe (whether you bother to actually let yourself feel something about it or not) doesn’t make you the biggest fan ever, it just makes you a pandering tool. You are allowed to have opinions. This is a fandom, not a dictatorship…
Being the original "horn blower" about the Banana 101.5 cockfight which includes Coheed, I would just like the Coheed world to know that this is another type of contest where a song is kept up until a challenger can defeat it. If a song stays up 10 rounds in a row (I think ten is right) it gets put into regular rotation on the station. Let's make Domino the new champion!
*PSSHHHHH* We have a visual on the track list. Do you copy? I repeat: we have a visual on the tracklisting. Over. *Click*

Hey Jess Coheed just announced they're going to be at Cleveland with the dear hunter and three, this is going to be my first Coheed show ever! I'm so excited, what's a live show typically like for them? Can it even be put into words? :P
Well, everyone will know all the words. Everyone will scream MAN YOUR OWN JACKHAMMER! so loudly and in perfect unison that you’ll swear the building is about to collapse. It will be agonizingly hot and sweaty, and the floor (general admission) will be energetic almost to the point of violence, but everyone will be sharing such intense happiness and excitement that it stops just short of an explosion. You may get mildly injured, but don’t worry, it was a total accident and you’ll be too busy throwing yourself into the experience to notice or care. And it’ll be the first show they play in the wake of The Afterman release. They’ll be excited. Coheed fans also love The Dear Hunter and Three.
This is retarded. Why the fuck is it not okay to have a favourite Coheed song anymore? Just having a favourite doesn’t mean you hate the rest.
Don’t like it? Don’t reblog it.
My favorite song is In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.
And you’re going to say I’m not a Child of the Fence?
Bitch please! :) Like I need your approval to be validated as a Coheed fan. Like any of us do. Just shut the hell up everyone, listen to the music, read some Amory Wars, and be happy that the Coheed universe even exists after 10+ years of amazing journeys, agonizing struggles, and triumph.
i know it'd take a while. but do you think you could make a post/posts describing what each coheed song is about as it pertains to the story?
We are working on a project like that for Cobalt’s story resources page. However, the songs are not usually written to portray a specific scene in the story; rather, they relate themes that are present in the story. Personally I am not sure if song-by-song would be very useful or clear, but we’ll do our best.
Something I've been wondering about is how tour lineups are determined and what the process behind getting them together is. I know you may not have the answer to that, but considering your affiliation with the Cobalt site, you might have more knowledge than me. Thanks for whatever light you can shed on the subject :)
I don’t actually know for sure but I can make some educated guesses on the subject?
Commonly, band managers will network with other managers who work with bands in similar genres, or that share some commonalities in fanbases. Thus, a tour is born. It’s in everyone’s best financial and promotional interests to construct a lineup that the majority of show-goers will be interested in. Labels often work together and contract their bands out. Sometimes bands will share a manager, which frequently results in a tour (see 2005’s Coheed/Blood Brothers/Dredg/mewithoutYou tour - at least two of the openers were managed by Blaze at the time but I don’t remember which). If the person in charge of a band is particularly sensitive to the chatter of their fans, sometimes bands will be chosen based on common interest rather than genre. Sometimes a member of the headlining band suggests an opener (a lot of Coheed’s openers happen this way) and sometimes there are connections between bands (Coheed and 3 is a good example).
Or maybe there is a giant Deep Thought style tour supercomputer that spits out bands?
What does Coheed and cambria's Wake Up song means?
In the story of the Amory Wars it is a song about betrayal. In that part of the tale, the Writer (a character of the Good Apollo story arc) has realized the love of his life has been cheating on him when he goes away on business. In real life, it is a love song written by the lead singer to his girlfriend (now wife) that was altered somewhat when she temporarily dumped him a few years back.
